An architectural practice that delivers innovative and creative designs at all RIBA work stages to private and commercial clients.

Who we are

HAP Architects is an award-winning Practice based just a stones-throw from High Wycombe Railway Station and town centre amenities.  Our team of Architects and Technologists have a broad experience of varying building and construction typologies blending flare and creativity with practical detailing.

Founded in 1984 as ‘Harvey Architects Partnership’ by Chris Harvey (who retired in 2017), trading today as HAP Architects under the ownership and leadership of Alan Hooper, we are a small practice delivering projects ranging from one-off houses to schemes of 300+ homes, commercial site regeneration and community buildings.  The practice has a wealth of experience in projects within Green Belt settings, historic buildings and conservations areas as well as urban and brownfield sites.

What we do

‘Architecture for now and the future

At HAP we are dedicated to creating architecture that serves the needs of today while anticipating the challenges and possibilities of tomorrow. Rooted in a commitment to human-centred design, we create spaces that inspire, adapt, and stand the test of time.

‘Architectural Excellence’
We strive for excellence in every detail, aiming to set new benchmarks in people-focussed environments and be recognised as a multi-award-winning leader in exceptional, purpose-led design.

‘Experts in Spatial Arrangement’
With an expertise in spatial arrangement, we design environments that are intuitive, efficient, and inspiring—shaped by how people move, interact, and thrive within them.

‘Partnership focussed’
We believe the best architecture comes from collaboration. Rooted in strong partnerships with clients, communities, and consultants, we design spaces that reflect shared vision, mutual respect, and collective creativity. Together, we build more than buildings—we build lasting relationships and meaningful impact.

What our clients say

Hightown Housing Association
‘HAP offer Hightown detailed residential planning advice from start to finish and have provided excellent solutions that had not been previously considered. HAP have been appointed on a number of difficult feasibility projects with multiple planning constraints and have presented Hightown Housing Association with different options to present to our Board for consideration.

HAP are very quick to respond with any queries, large or small. There is always someone available within their team to talk to and provide solutions. Hightown’s excellent working relationship with Local Authorities is very important and HAP help us to do so by liaising brilliantly with our agencies/consultants in a professional way on our behalf taking the lead when required to do so. HAP consider the financial limitations Housing Associations work under in terms of design/build costs and stick to the original fee proposal, while also keeping an eye on longer term issues such and maintenance and management costs.

The quality of work produced by HAP is of the highest standard, with recent praise coming from both internal colleagues and the Local Authority planning department. The quality of presentation/information provided for a Design & Access Statement for a recent pre-application received particular praise. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend HAP and look forward to working with them on our current and future projects
